Tipps & Tricks: Änderungen an der Arnold 221 / Changes of the Arnold 221

Meine Arnold 221 120-9 habe ich an den Drehgestellen farblich etwas aufgewertet. Zunäst waren die Kontakte an der Reihe, denn diese sind von außen sichbar. Bis auf die Stellen, die zur Kontaktaufnahme von den Rädern dienen, habe ich diese Kontakte seitlich komplett schwarz lackiert. Das erste Foto zeigt dies im Vergleich zu einem unbehandelten Drehgestellblock einer Fleischmann 218 (rechts):

I've changed only the bogies of my Arnold 221 120-9: The first step was to paint the bogies a little bit. The contacts are visible from the outside. So I painted the side parts of the bogies comnpletely black - except the outer parts of the contacts, where they connect to the wheels. Picture one shows such a bogie in comparision with a bogie of a Fleischmann 218 (right):

Auch die Außenseiten der Räder wurden entsprechend behandelt:

Da ich die Lok auf Fleischmann Profi-Kupplung umgerüstet habe (Abbildung 3), musste ich an den Drehgestellrahmen ein Stück abeschneiden. Die gleiche Prozedur war übrigens bei all meinen Arnold-Loks erforderlich, die für den Einbau einer Simplex-Kupplung vorbereitet sind. Abbildung 4 zeigt links einen noch unbehandelten Rahmen, am rechten wurde bereits die Spitze abgeschnitten (grüner Pfeil):

The bogie frames had be shortened a little bit at the top, because I use Fleischmann Profi couplers (see picture 3). I had to perform the same task with all my Arnold engines that a prepared for a Simplex coupling. The right frame on picture 4 is the one already changed (green arrow), the left is the original one:
